Are you itching to have a new book in your hands? Soon you can as the Duluth Public Library rolls out something new: curbside pickup!

The Duluth Public Library will begin offering the service starting Monday, April 27th.  Here's how it works:

  • Choose which materials you want to read. Once you decide, you can request them by using the library's online catalog or by calling the library at 218-730-4200. To request materials, you must call between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on any weekday.
  • Once the materials you requested are ready for pickup, you will receive a notification via email or phone. Once you receive this notification, you can call the library (at the number listed above) and schedule a time to pickup your books.
  • Pull up to the designated curbside pickup location, which is located on Michigan Street and in front of the garage doors.
  • Staff will drop your books curbside and when they are a safe distance away, you can retrieve your books.

It should be noted that there are two designated periods per day for curbside pickup: 10 a.m. to noon and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every weekday. Curbside pickup is only available for the main library branch at this time.

You can pick up to ten materials at once. Book returns are still not accepted at this time so once you are done with the books, keep them until further notice.

Accommodations will be made for those walking to the library or those unable to retrieve the books at curbside.

The library is located at 520 West Superior Street. Read away!
