Cottonelle Announces Recall of Flushable Wipes
If you've purchased Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes or Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes this year, you'll want to check the lot number on the packaging.
According the the Cottonell website, Kimberly-Clark announced a product recall of its Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes sold throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean, due to the detection of some Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes that do not meet the companies "high quality standards".
Kimberly-Clark goes on to site the specific issue with the products included in the recall:
The affected product could show the presence of a bacterium (Pluralibacter gergoviae) which naturally occurs in the environment and in the human body. Pluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy individuals. However, individuals with weakened immune systems are at a heightened risk of infection.
The specific lots included in this recall are Cottonelle® Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle® GentlePlus Flushable Wipes manufactured between February 7, 2020 – September 14, 2020.
Consumers should do a quick check of the lot number on their packaging. You can click on the button below for complete instructions on how to do this and even enter your lot number into the Cottonelle website to determine if you have any of the products in question.
If you find you have the recalled products, you are advised to throw them away and do not return any packages to a retailer. Refunds are available for those who complete the 'Contact Us' link on their website.
