Ticket Prices Soar While Artists Struggle To Keep Shows Alive
Have you been pickier about which concerts you attend lately? A lot of concert-goers are, and that's shaking up the live entertainment business. There have been around 10 major concert tours that have been postponed or cancelled already in 2026, before the summer season officially kicks off.
"Everything Costs More"
The reason? It's costing tours more money to put on a show, and fewer people are willing to pay to go to concerts. I saw a post from Sunset Boulevard Records on Facebook that confirmed what many of us are feeling. Everything is so expensive that we need to pick and choose which concerts we are going to attend. Instead of going to multiple, we've got to narrow it down to which act we really NEED to see.
Rising Diesel Prices + Labor Costs
Gas prices are at the highest level in years, and diesel fuel is even higher. That's what tour buses run on, and that digs into profit margins. Labor costs are higher, too. It costs tens of thousands of dollars just for the production at a venue.
Artists Who Have Cancelled 2026 Dates
Pop star Meghan Trainor cancelled her entire tour to spend more time with family. It was also reported that ticket sales were soft. Post Malone and Jelly Roll delayed their tour so Malone could finish his album, although something seems off about that. Neil Young, Demi Lovato, Barry Manilow, Dolly Parton, The Pussycat Dolls, Colter Wall, and Amber Mark have all cancelled tour dates.

Some Artists Are Trying To Keep Concerts Affordable
There have been artists who have fought against higher ticket sales, like Luke Combs, who has made it a priority to have $25 tickets available for his stadium tours. Willie Nelson has been known for reasonable ticket pricing. Christ Stapleton, Luke Bryan, and others have also worked to make concerts affordable for fans.
Kid Rock's Rock The Country Cuts Ticket Prices In Half
Instead of delaying or cancelling dates, some venues offer steep discounts or slash ticket prices, which frustrates those people who already paid full price.
