CHUM is looking for your help with some of the supplies and things for the homeless and those in need.

As we move into the new year more people are losing their jobs and sometimes their homes and apartments. More people are showing up to get warm, to get a meal, to get warm clothes for the coming months. There are more people living on the streets than ever. Every little bit helps. Here is the 2021 list of things in most need.

For the Health Clinic: new underwear, boxers, bras, socks, deodorant, and tampons.

For Outreach Services: hand warmers, Chapstick, and candles.
Heavy winter coats, winter boots, hats, gloves, and scarves are also welcome.

For the Family Shelter: twin size bed sheets, twin size comforters, twin size mattress protectors, silverware sets (plastic works!), dishes (bowls and flat plats), household mops, brooms, and dustpans, household trash cans, baking utensils (cupcakes tins and cookie sheets), pots and pans, individual laundry detergent and dish soap.

For the Food Shelf: Cereal, Peanut Butter, Canned Soup, Canned Beans! All types are accepted for donation Monday-Friday. Cash can be donated too and in some cases are better because they can purchase more in bulk to feed more.

Top of the list is blankets and sleeping bags. The shelter is in need of new or gently used microwaves. Also, they are asking for pots and pans to replace the older ones. Sometimes these can be pricey so you might want to go in on these together with someone. They are in need of bedding especially Twin sized sheets and blankets. They are in need of washcloths and towels.

Chum cannot accept clothing at this time, and will not take sharp items such as knives or other breakable items. If you do have any of the things listed above, please call 218-720-6521 to schedule a drop-off time at the main office at 102 West 2nd Street in Duluth.
