Christmas In Wisconsin? Santa + The Grinch Seen Cruising On Motorcycle In Mid-December
It's been a mild December across the Midwest. It's even looking like we may not have a white Christmas - the first I can remember in years. I was out driving around on Saturday, December 15, 2023, when I noticed a few strange things.
I was in Superior at the intersection of Catlin Avenue and Belknap Street near the University of Wisconsin-Superior. I heard a horn blaring while waiting for a red light, and then I saw it. Santa Claus was riding a motorcycle with The Grinch on the back.
I of course did a double take and watched them speed off. I turned down the road and a little while later I saw them coming back from the other direction, waving at other motorists and spreading some Christmas cheer.
How about that for December 15th? It didn't even get to below freezing the previous night, and it was over 40 degrees in the afternoon.

I even saw people fishing in boats in the St. Louis River Bay. That's insane. We should be ice fishing by now, but I saw at least 3 boats out in the open water. It's cold for open-water fishing, but the fish must be biting, because I keep seeing them go out!
So will it be a white Christmas? For most of the region, we'll see high temperatures above freezing this week. There is a chance for a wintry mix Christmas Eve into Christmas Day, but that could be more rain than snow depending on how things develop.
