Celebrate First 2022 Lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse Beacon in Two Harbors, Minnesota
One of the most popular tourist attractions in the Northland is the Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors. There is plenty to see and do there regardless of the time of day you visit, but there's something special about seeing the beacon lit up.
Soon, the Split Rock Lighthouse beacon will be lit for for the first time of 2022 and the public is invited to take part in what will be a full celebration.
This is especially great news since the Split Rock Lighthouse recently had to suspend operations due to damage to the grounds caused by a lightning strike. Thankfully, they suffered no structural damage to the buildings and there were no injuries, but they were closed to visitors for several days.
The Lake County Chamber of Commerce recently shared the open invitation on their official Facebook page.
The light station and grounds will be open after hours for the event, which will feature food and live music by Hannah Rey and Jon Cron. Guest are also invited to take a picture with a lighthouse keeper, take in the “Story of Split Rock Lighthouse” film at the visitor center, and then be on hand for the beacon lighting at dusk.
Behold 1000 watts of ship-stopping power! Experience the sights, the history, and the technology behind this signature Minnesota landmark anchored on the rocky coast of Lake Superior.
The Split Rock Lighthouse beacon lighting celebration is scheduled for Thursday May, 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Split Rock Lighthouse is located at 3713 Split Rock Lighthouse Road in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
