Our pets are so much more than that, they are like family.  So when they go missing or get lost, it's never a fun thing for anyone.  While it's a good idea to of course have your contact information on their collar, there is more you can do to help ensure their return if necessary.

Pet microchipping is a good idea as it's another way that authorities can help get your furry family member back to you.  They can be scanned and your information will pull-up so that you can be notified and reunited.  Throughout the year, various entities have free pet mircochip events that are open to the public.

Northern Lakes Rescue has teamed up with Carlton County to offer the opportunity to get your pet or pets, microchipped for free.  This is for dogs or cats, with a limit of three per household while supplies last.  Make sure you don't forget a valid ID proving residency.  If you are a non-resident, it's only $20 to get it done per animal.  They will also be offering other services like nail trims at low cost.  It's a drive-thru event too, so that helps with the social distancing.

The event is on Saturday, September 19th, from 9:00AM-5:00PM, at Veteran's Memorial Park in Cloquet.  If you have any questions you can email Laci Silgjord, lsiljord@cloquetmn.gov.  More information can also be found on the event HERE.
