History is pretty cool, and I love learning about local history.  The other day I had a chance to learn quite a bit of stuff, including a lot about this man.  Who was he?

Martin Pattison.  He and his wife Grace built the Fairlawn Mansion in Superior, and also donated the land that would become Pattison State Park.  The home has 42 bedrooms and back in the day had a swimming pool and a bowling alley in the basement.

We learned all of this while on a tour at Fairlawn Mansion with my son's cub scout den.  It really is a beautiful place to visit, and you learn a lot on the tour.  You can learn more about it at the City of Superior Museum's website.

There also is rumors that the place is haunted, no surprise.  Our tour guide Mac said that he can neither confirm or deny those rumors.  Some of the sighting have been reported to be a girl acting as a tour guide.  Check it out.
