There is SO much going on at the Lake Superior Zoo!  The animals don't want you to miss a minute of it, in fact they are personally inviting you to the Farm's, Food and Fun, a Lake Superior Zoo Barnyard Dedication.  Bring the whole family, we can't wait to see YOU!

Clear your calendar for Saturday, June 8 and be sure to bring your camera.  First we'll have a “Twine Cutting” Ceremony at 10:15 am, then stick around for a whole BUNCH of family fun activities immediately following until 3pm.

It's to celebrate the dedication of the zoo’s newly renovated barnyard and meet their many new farm animal friends. Don’t forget your camera! The kids will be getting an up close and personal introduction to the zoo’s llama, sheep, donkey, goats and more.

This event will also celebrate all things farming, locally grown food, and good old fashioned fun. Farms, Food and Fun will feature a “twine cutting” ceremony, local farmers, locally grown and made food, and good old fashioned fun.

A number of our animals will be enjoying some extra-special enrichments, including a pie eating contest for the kids with Trouble and Phoebe, the zoo’s brown bears beginning at 2:30.

Some other activities you will enjoy that day include: Terrance Smith’s Maypole Dance and Folk Music, UMD Sustainable Agriculture, Wool Carding, Spinning, and Knitting, Seed Bomb Contest, Shetland Sheep Association, Ask a Master Gardener, Grass Fed Beef, Tomatoes, Lawn Games, and much, much more!  If you get hungry, Upper Lakes Foods and Thousand Hills Farms will be providing free all-beef hotdogs, while they last, beginning at 11:00.

The zoo is open 9 am-6 pm that day. Regular admission prices apply. Members are free. [become a member] www.LSZOO.org. For more information, contact the Lake Superior Zoological Society at (218) 730-4500.
