Brett Young Sings of Unexpected Love in ‘Catch’ Acoustic Video [Watch]
One week shy of the release of Ticket to L.A., Brett Young is sharing another track off the project, with an acoustic performance of "Catch."
The song is told from the perspective of a guy who was expecting nothing more than a low-key night out with his friends, when a woman walks in the bar and unexpectedly captivates him.
Young ties the title in throughout the song—anticipating that he would catch a bus to the bar to watch the game, while catching up with his friends, only to have a woman catch his eye from across the room...and ultimately hoping it'll "catch a spark and start a flame."
"You got me catchin' feelings / I wasn't even trying to feel this / Don't know how you started stealin' / My heart like you are in this bar / But I'm glad that you are," he sings serenely over a stripped-down melody on acoustic guitar.
“‘Catch’ is about that person who comes along when you least expect it, and completely changes all your plans," the breakthrough country star expresses in a press release. "I think most of us have felt that way at some point - being so captivated by someone that nothing else seems to matter, so I hope fans can really connect with this one."
Young married the woman that caught his eye, Taylor Mills, in November of 2018. The singer admitted that he was reduced to tears during their wedding in Palm Springs.
"I cried a lot," he tells Taste of Country. "I cried when she was walking [down the aisle], I cried during my vows, I cried during her vows, I cried when my dad was doing his portion of the ceremony."
The country hitmaker already has plenty to look forward to 2019 with an opening slot on Kelsea Ballerini's Miss Me More Tour that crosses the U.S. in the spring. Ticket to L.A. drops on Friday (Dec. 7).
