Some needed repair work will close down one of the ramps on the Bong Bridge for a temporary period of time. Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are alerting the public that the ramp from northbound I-35 to eastbound Highway 2 at the Bong Bridge (the ramp that goes to Wisconsin from northbound I-35) will be temporarily closed on Thursday, May 6 during the daytime hours.

The closure is needed to allow work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation access to conduct scheduled guardrail repairs.  The closure will begin at 9:00 AM and should reopen by 3:00 PM once the repairs are complete.

While the ramp is closed, a posted detour will be in place.  The Minnesota Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to follow the signs that will direct eastbound Highway 2 traffic to exit off of I-35 at 40th Avenue West, travel to Superior Street, and then to 46th Avenue West to merge on to the Bong Bridge.

As with any road construction project and work zone, drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution when approaching or traveling through the area.  Conditions within road construction areas can and often do change without notice.  Fines also increase inside of work zones - so slow down.
