Spring and Summer are great times to meet new people and maybe even a new love.  We have done our research and come up with this useful list to reference when you find yourself lonely and looking for a new adventure in love!

Grocery Store

We kick off the list with a place everyone has to go to, the Grocery store, that is unless they live off a diet of fast food, in that case you might not want to meet them anyway.

The grocery store is a great place to meet someone with similar "tastes", you can tell a lot about somebody by what they have in their cart.

Additionally the grocery store you visit might play a role itself, for instance if you shop at Whole Foods Coop you are probably very conscious about what you eat, and chances are so are your fellow single shoppers, giving you something instantly in common. Strike up a conversation, "I see you like the Probiotic Juice Drink in pomegranate blackberry flavor, that's my favorite to....", it's just that easy.

Pick-up Line To Avoid: "I don't care how many items you've got baby, I'll check you out all day."

volunteering

This is a great way to meet new people and do something meaningful for others and our community, volunteer!  What a great way to meet someone that is also passionate about giving to others.

There are a lot of great volunteer opportunities in Duluth, from walking dogs at Animal Allies to building a house for Habitat for Humanity. Find activities that involve groups of people, this will help increase your chances of finding a compatible single.

Check out the United Way of Greater Duluth for a list of organizations that are seeking volunteers. Also VolunteerMatch.com has a list of updating volunteer opportunities in the area.

Pick-up Line To Avoid: "Do you have a 'Band-Aid'? I just scraped my knee falling for you."

Seasonal adult Sport Leagues

loading...

If you're the active type, the best way to meet someone may be to join a local adult sporting league.  Duluth offers plenty of options like Softball, Hockey, Volleyball, Touch Football and even Bocce Ball.

Not only will you get to check out the body of a potential mate, especially if your playing an outdoor Summer sport, shirts vs. skins anyone?  But often these sports include a very social element, like drinks and apps after a game, or maybe a BBQ at that cute guy or girls house after a game, this is a fantastic laid back way to meet someone with others around to help ease that getting to know you awkwardness.

The City of Duluth maintains this great list of contacts for all the adult sporting leagues available in the city for all seasons, join a team or start one of your own.

Pick-up Line To Avoid: "I play the field, and it looks like I just hit a home run with you."

Dog Park

loading...

Bring out your four legged friend to snag yourself a 2 legged friend.  The Dog Park is a perfect place for you to strike up a chat while the dogs play.

The only problem is there aren't a lot of "official" Dog Parks in the area, but any place where a dog and it's owner may go to play will work.  For instance in the Summer the dogs like the water just as much as we do, so the lake or the beach may be a good place to play fetch (a mate).

Duluth does have an OK dog park at Keene Creek, it might be worth checking out, there is also a private membership only dog park at Harbor City Kennels that might provide a chance to meet a fellow dog lover.

Pick-up Line To Avoid: "I'll sniff your butt if you sniff mine."

Country Music Concert

loading...

And finally might we suggest a country music concert as a place to meet an eligible single and better yet a single that enjoys the same music tastes as you.  It can be challenging to date someone that enjoys 50 Cent and Eminem when you are enjoying Trace Adkins and Miranda Lambert, you don't need to be fighting about what station to listen to while your getting to know each other, plus that way you can always listen to B105.

And it just so happens that we have one of those great opportunities coming up in July when Trace Adkins plays Bayfront Park, get your "Brown Chicken Brown Cow" on!  It may be hard to spot a single person in such a big crowd, we suggest talking to and becoming friends with as many people as you can, you're bound to find someone, maybe we could have a special singles only area, what do you think?

Try this at the Trace show: "Hey, baby, do you come here often? Hey, baby, now, what's your sign?" - 'Swing,' Trace Adkins

So tell us, what did we miss? Did you meet your Husband or Wife at a fun place in town? Share it in the comment are below.
