Best Chips + Salsa I Had In The Twin Ports Was At A Bar

My wife and I had to kill some time last night while our daughter was at soccer practice, so we decided to go out for dinner. Of course, the question is always where do you want to go?

We were looking for a budget-friendly meal because everything costs 100x what it used to (I won't rant about that now). Usually, when we go out for dinner it's at least 50 or 60 bucks minimum for the two of us. Add in a couple of cocktails and you're easily at $70 for a meal out, right?

I suggested we stop at the Keyport Lounge in Superior because it wasn't far away and I hadn't been there in a while. When we got there we were informed it was 25% off Mexican night. Mexican at the Keyport Lounge? It's not at strange as you think.

Keyport Liquor and Lounge bought the recipes from Zona Rosa when it closed. Zona Rosa was a popular Mexican restaurant that closed in August of 1998. Now, Keyport offers some of their classic Mexican dishes. If you order Mexican, they bring out their chips and salsa and a choice of mild or hot salsa.

I don't typically pay much attention to the chips and salsa. To me, they all kind of taste the same, but we all noticed how good these chips and salsa were. The chips were super fresh and nice and salty. The salsa was very fresh and flavorful and was more like pico de Gallo. It wasn't runny like some salsas you get. We ordered a side of queso which was really good too.

A friend of ours joined us for dinner. Both my wife and her friend had the Chicken Chimichanga and they LOVED it. I had a couple of beef tacos and they were fantastic as well, with a nice crunchy fried taco shell.

Other Mexican classics at the Keyport include Sizzlin' Fajitas, Burritos, Super Burritos, Nachos, Enchiladas, and more.

We also had a $4.75 margarita which was really good. (You can actually taste the tequila).
