This last weekend I got some nasty bug bites on my legs while at a friend's cabin.  I'm pretty sure they aren't the run of the mill mosquito bites because they itched worse and for a longer period of time.  I tried anti itch cream and that didn't really help at all.

My wife had heard that if you use clear nail polish and apply it over the bite that it will help stop the itching.  I didn't believe her at first, but what did I have to lose by trying it.  Sure enough, within a little bit I realized I wasn't scratching at my legs or ankles anymore.  I'm not sure why it works.  Maybe it's just because it prevents you from scratching at the source of the bite?

Either way, I'm glad to have tried it and I'll keep it in mind.  Maybe I'll even pack it along on trips to the cabin!
