Avocados Being Recalled In Wisconsin Due To Listeria Concerns
You may want to think twice before you reach for an avocado - they are being recalled in six different states due to concerns of listeria.
This news is especially relevant here in the Northland, as Wisconsin is one of the states where the recall is being issued.
The recall was announced Saturday by California company Henry Avocado. According to a press release put out by the company, the recall is being issued after they discovered "positive test results on environmental samples taken during a routine government inspection at its California packing facility."
Henry Avocado is voluntarily recalling the avocados, even though no one has been reported sick. This recall is for whole avocados, which have since been pulled from shelves. If you are still concerned, this brand of avocado can be identified by retailers using the bar code.
Other states affected by the recall include Arizona, California, Florida, New Hampshire and North Carolina.
Henry Avocado is a company that offers fresh organic avocados. It has been up and running since 1925.
In case you didn't know, listeria infection can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea. If untreated, symptoms can escalate to include stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
