UPDATE: Both Suspects Now In Custody From Armed Robbery In Minnesota

Authorities in Northern Minnesota reached out over the weekend to ask for help from the community after an armed robbery took place at a Kwik Trip in Cloquet during the early morning hours of Saturday, July 12.

They issued a press release describing what took place, as well as images of the suspects involved in the crime.

Armed Robbery Reported In Cloquet, Minnesota

According to the press release, Cloquet Police were notified of an armed robbery at the Kwik Trip Store located at 900 Washington Ave in the City of Cloquet.

Authorities say that on Saturday, July 12, at 4:39 AM, witnesses reported to 911 that two male suspects entered the business, brandished a firearm, and took an undisclosed amount of cash out of the register. The suspects then fled the store, heading North on foot. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

A perimeter was set up around the business, and a police K-9 was deployed in the search for the suspects, but after approximately an hour, the track ended inconclusively. It is possible the suspects left the area in a vehicle after initially leaving the store on foot.

UPDATE: 1 Suspect Is In Custody, While Another Remains At Large

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 13, the Cloquet Police Department provided an update on the case. Officers were reportedly able to locate one of the alleged suspects involved.

According to a news release, around 6:20 p.m. on July 12, 2025, a 16-year-old juvenile male was found and taken into custody without incident in the nearby town of Wrenshall. The individual is currently being held at the Arrowhead Juvenile Correction Center pending formal charges.

Officers later executed a search warrant at the location and found items connected to the robbery. One juvenile is in custody, while the other suspect remains at large.

Authorities were confident they would identify the second suspect soon. They encouraged the individual to safely make arrangements with the Cloquet Police Department to turn themselves in. Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the perpetrators is encouraged to contact the PD.

UPDATE 2: Both Suspects Are Now In Custody

According to authorities, at approximately 4:45 p.m. on July 14, 2025, members of the Cloquet Police Department executed a search warrant in the City of Cloquet, based on information gathered during the investigation into the robbery.

During the search, officers discovered items they believe are linked to the armed robbery, including the suspected handgun used in the crime.

Officers also recovered another handgun they think was stolen during recent vehicle prowls in the area.

A 15-year-old male juvenile from Cloquet was subsequently taken to the Arrowhead Juvenile Center pending formal charges.

The investigation remains ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
