Animal Allies Offering Assistance For Evacuees With Pets

You already know by now that three major wildfires are burning uncontained in northeastern Minnesota. The story has made national news and is very close to home.

As of the time of writing, about 35,000 acres have been impacted so far. Hot and breezy conditions are in store for Minnesota again Wednesday (May 14th), which is not ideal.

The good news is that we do have rain moving in possibly overnight, with a strong likelihood for rain on Thursday (May 15th).

With these fires burning, communities in St. Louis County and beyond are in need, and it's been inspiring to see the community coming together to help those in need.

With evacuations in place, there are a lot of moving parts and things to think about. One of those is pets. You may need to place your animal elsewhere for the time being if you are evacuating.

Animal Allies has stepped in to help those in need, offering tips on what you can and should do right now if you are in a possible evacuation zone and have pets. They suggest getting an emergency bag ready to go with their food, medications and any important documents you might need for them.

Animal Allies Can Help You Find A Temporary Home For Your Pet

Unfortunately, the shelter is tight on space right now but they are still offering assistance to pet owners to help them find a home. Call them during business hours and they will place you with someone on their volunteer list who has offered to take in pets right now.

They also might be able to hold your pet in the shelter but again, space is limited. They have a list of volunteers and will put you in touch directly with someone on their list. The phone number is 218-722-5341.

If you are unsure about anything relating to evacuating with your pet, Animal Allies encourages you to call them and they will help you. They are also working directly with St. Louis County officials.

This is a scary time but when things like this happen, it's always inspiring to see so many people helping out those in need.
