Recently I published a blog about a unique fact about liquor stores in Superior.  On Facebook, a response came that "Everything in this town has to do with drinking."  Last year it was announced that another bar in Superior was opening up, and the negative responses came in, "Just another drinking place, where are the other things to do?"  After living in many different communities, I find it interesting that this common complaint occurs in EVERY CITY.

I remember when I moved back to the Northland in 2006 how thrilled I was that there was SO MUCH to do here.  We have the great Northland outdoors here.  You can go fishing in a ton of different places, easily!  You can hang out on Park Point or Wisconsin Point, hike on a 100 different trails.  You can go to a movie, pick one of hundreds of restaurants to go to.  You can go golfing, catch a baseball game.  There is so much to do in Superior and Duluth that you should never feel like your only option is to sit at a bar and drink, or sit at home and drink.

It's funny when people say, "The only thing to do around here is drink" because they think they have a unique place they live where nothing is going on.  The fact is that there is someone in every town saying the same thing, bored and unimaginative.

Make the best out of where you live, and if you find that you can't it's time to move on.  I know because I literally did that exact same thing years ago.
