Last week the NFL released the 2017 schedule which featured a Monday Night Football home opener for the Minnesota Vikings, who host the New Orleans Saints at U.S. Bank Stadium.  Now, it looks like they will face a very familiar face in that game.

NFL.com is reporting that Adrian Peterson is about to sign a contract with the Saints that would pay the former Vikings star $3.25 million in 2017, with the possibility to earn more in incentives.  If that amount holds true, Adrian would be earning less than current Saints starting running back Mark Ingram.

You can't ask for a much better story line for week #1 of the upcoming NFL season than the return of Adrian Peterson to face his former team.  I'm sure the television ratings will be massive.

The big question is, will the Vikings shut down Peterson and the Saints or will he have the last laugh?
