Earlier this week, Adrian Peterson made headlines by returning to the Minnesota Vikings practice field with the intention to play week 16 in Green Bay.  Today, he made headlines again by announcing he wants to play sooner.

NFL.com and other sources are reporting that Adrian Peterson intends to play this Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts.

Adrian has been out since September with a torn meniscus and his return Sunday is very early in what his injury timeline was expected to be.  However, he knows his body better than anyone and he has healed quickly in the past.

The question for Sunday is how much AP will actually play.  It's unlikely that he will resume workhorse duties for the Vikings right away.  I would think he would get 10-12 touches to help him get back into game shape and test his knee.

If all goes well, he could then be all systems go against the Packers..
