A Look Back At Northland NHL Star Matt Niskanen Through The Years

Matt Niskanen made the announcement in 2020 that he was retiring from the National Hockey League. It was somewhat of a surprise to many as he still had a year left on his contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Niskanen was born in Virginia, MN and played hockey for the Virginia / Mountain Iron in High School. He also played for the UMD Bulldogs before going pro. He's played on 4 teams through 13 seasons with the NHL, including winning the Stanley Cup. Here's a look back at Niskanen's carrer.
