5 Famous Hollywood Stars That Were Born In Minnesota
A few weeks ago, Ken and I were talking on The Breakfast Club when he casually mentioned that Jessica Lange is a Minnesotan. Yes - THE Jessica Lange. You know, the one with Oscars and Golden Globes and all that.
Apparently, it is a well-known fact that the famous actress hails from Cloquet and even returns to visit from time to time. This is amazing and I have never been more proud to be a Minnesotan. Ha!
After some research on this, I came to discover that there are a ton of other amazing Hollywood actors and actresses that call the Land of 10,000 Lakes home! Some are television stars. Others star in movies and some do both! Don't even get me started on all the amazing musicians. Swoon.
So who are some of these famous actors and actresses from La La Land whose Minnesota origins have flown under the radar? I did some research and came up five that you may not know call the Land of 10,000 Lakes their birthplace.
Take a look below:
- 1
Ian Anthony Dale
Dale's fame is on the rise as we speak, thanks in part to his new leading role on CBS show Salvation. I love him because of his leading role on Hawaii Five-O. Aside from these roles, he's also starred in huge hits like American Horror Story: Coven, Criminal Minds and The Hangover. The St. Paul-born actor attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School and then went on to St. Mary's University in Winona. Swoon.

Jessica Biel
Does this really need an explanation? Probably not but I will give it to you anyway. Long before she was an award-winning actress married to the biggest superstar in the world, she was hanging out in Ely, Minnesota where she was born and raised. It's safe to say we probably gave her some inspiration!
- 3
Garrett Hedlund
Hedlund has been around for awhile, starring in a few major motion pictures before scoring his big break alongside Tim McGraw in 2010's Country Strong. Long before that though, he was just a young kid hanging out in Roseau, Minnesota. By the way - if you haven't heard him sing, stop what you're doing and listen to it right now.

T.R. Knight
Grey's Anatomy fans, this one's for you. Before Shonda Rimes ruined everyone's life by killing him off via bus, Knight was killing it as intern favorite George on the hit show. After five seasons, he met his fate (as all our favorite characters do on the show) but it helps us feel a little better knowing he was born and raised in Minneapolis. Before he set off to Los Angeles, he enrolled at University of St. Thomas for a bit and scored roles at the Guthrie Theater.

Chris Pratt
He's been a household name ever since his leading man status in Jurassic World and his role as Andy Dwyer in Parks And Recreation before that. The superstar was born in Virginia and lived there until he was three years old. While we wish he still lived here, at least we can say we knew him when!
