Even when you're not in the market for a new house, it can be fun to look at what's out there and dream a little. We decided to dream a lot, looking at five homes on the market right now in Duluth and on the North Shore with listing prices of $1 million or more. Here's what we found:

House 1: 1818 Ridgewood Court in Duluth - $1,000,000

Nestled in the trees near Tischer Creek in the Congdon neighborhood, you'll find this rugged log palace. With 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3-stall attached garage, a large stone fireplace, formal and informal dining room, rec room, spa, gym, and even a dance floor; the $1 million asking price almost seems like a steal.

Built in 2006, this 7,103 square foot home is like a rural mountain lodge right in Duluth. This ruggedly beautiful log-sided home features a modern, yet rustic interior definitely gives the impression of being in a remote locale, even though you're minutes away from the city's amenities. House 2: 1214 S Ridge Road in Duluth - $1,049,900

This three-bedroom, four-bathroom home is just a stone's throw away from Northland Country Club in the Lakeside/Lester Park neighborhood, and features some pretty spectacular views of Lake Superior. You can drink in the panoramic landscape from inside most places in the home, or on a deck that spans the side of the house.

Built in 1993, this modern-looking home offers 3,102 square feet of space with vaulted ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, sauna, and an attached garage. This home's asking price has actually been dropped from the initial asking price of $1,249,900. House 3: 6125 Highway 1 in Silver Bay - $1,250,000

If you want a true log home experience (above the million dollar price point) or want to dive into the world of running your own bed and breakfast, this property is worth a look. This property was built to be a B&B, having been run as Baptism River Inn Bed and Breakfast since it was built in 2004. While it is listed commercially, it could also serve as a North Shore home/getaway.

Sitting on 32.270 acres of land, this 5,795 square foot home features 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, and a rustic northwoods motif situated just off the Baptism River and Highway 1. This property is tucked about 3 miles inland from Lake Superior, just on the fringes of Tettegouche State Park's boundaries. See this home's listing here. House 4: 1724 Minnesota Avenue in Duluth - $1,399,000

This home was featured by Ken Hayes earlier this winter, who marveled at this $1.39 million Park Point home. Featuring 2 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, 3 level elevator, 3 stall heated garage, large deck surrounded by trees, an exercise room, wine room, and a zen garden; this home blends modern luxury and rustic Northwoods appeal, all with a gorgeous view of Lake Superior and beach access.

Built in 2004, this Park Point jewel features 4,350 square feet of space on a 0.55 acre lot. See this home's listing here. Tap any of the photos below to see full size.

House 5: 5908 Highway 61 in Silver Bay - $3,995,000

This is another home we've looked at previously. When we shared this lavish North Shore home back in 2017, it had a list price of $5.495 million. Listed at almost 30% less than then, it still is a magnificent home. It rests atop a rock cliff just north of Illgen City and Tettegouche State Park on a parcel of 7.5 acres of Lake Superior shoreline and features 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 partial baths, and 7,200 square feet of space.

The property's 7.5 acres includes 1,480 feet of linear shoreline, the main building, a treetop art studio, and guesthouse featuring a private beach. It was referred to in a listing as "Scandinavian Zen", which you can certainly understand why from the photos. See this home's listing here. Tap any of the photos below to see full size.
