One of Duluth's biggest summer events has been postponed to the summer of 2021 due to uncertainty from COVID-19. This year's Duluth Airshow, scheduled for July 18 and 19 has been postponed to next summer and will feature most of this year's lineup aside from the headlining act. This year's scheduled headliner was the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, but the new date in 2021 will feature the United States Navy Blue Angels.

The new date for Duluth's air show is June 26 and 27, 2021.

With gatherings in Minnesota currently limited to no more than 10 people and no indication fo when larger gatherings will be allowed, event organizers were forced to make a difficult decision. Duluth Airshow President Ryan Kern said in a media release, “The Duluth Airshow routinely draws upwards of 50,000 spectators over the weekend from across the Midwest.  The Airshow places a high priority on the safety of its performers and spectators and believes a gathering the size and scale of our event creates an unnecessary and unpredictable risk for the community in 2020.”

Tickets purchased for this year's show will be honored at the 2021 show, or ticket holders can choose to receive a refund. Further information regarding ticket transfers and refunds will be sent directly to ticket holders via email. All partnerships and sponsorship agreements for this year's event will remain active for next year's show.

While the postponed event will shift from the Thunderbirds to the Blue Angels, who were in Duluth for the 2019 show, the Duluth News Tribune reports most of the original performers scheduled for this year's event are slated to be in Duluth for the new date in 2021. Acts on the roster for the show include the US Army Golden Knights, Red Bull Helicopter, Mike Wiskus, Red Bull Wing Suit demonstrations, MIG-17, Kirby Chambliss, and others.

You can check for updated lineup information on the show and performers as it becomes available on the Duluth Airshow's website.
