Minnesota's 148th Fighter Wing will be doing more night flying in the the Northland beginning January 13 and going through Friday, January 24.

According to the announcement on their Facebook page:

The 148th Fighter Wing will conduct night flying Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 through Friday, Jan. 24, 2020. This period of night flying will allow the wing to conduct night air-to-air training and air-to-air refueling using night flying devices. Night flying is required for pilot proficiency to train for future missions worldwide. Most night flying occurs in the winter months due to the earlier sunset times, enabling jets to land prior to midnight.

Residents in the local area, Northern Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan may hear F-16s taking off, flying and landing during the late afternoon and evening. All F-16s are expected to be on the ground by 11:45pm.
