Suicide can be a tough topic to discuss, though it needs to be.  Mental health is something that plagues many and while it can be a real struggle and might make you feel hopeless, there is help out there for those in need.

Many of us have lost someone close to us, to suicide, and it's important to remember them.  Your opportunity to help raise awareness and walk for someone you lost is on Saturday, October 9th from 9:30-11:30AM at the Carlton High School.

Registration will start at 9:30 with the walk beginning at 10:00, and lasting about twenty minutes with light refreshments provided after.  The event will feature a speakers from the Carlton County Sheriff's Department,  Essentia's Grief Support Resources, and Local Mobil Crisis Response.  In addition there will be resources available on suicide awareness and education.  Individuals involved in the walk are welcome to wear something with a picture or name of a loved one their lost, in remembrance of them.

The 13th Annual Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk is not a fundraising event, and is totally free to participate in with the whole family welcome..  Keep in mind that if you are indoors at any point during the event, masks are required no matter your vaccination status.  Carlton High School is located at 405 School Avenue in Carlton, MN and you can get more information on the Awareness and Memorial Walk by calling Meghann Levitt at 218-879-4511.  If you or someone you know is currently struggling there is help just a phone call away with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
