Anyone who watched Joe Webb in the Vikings playoff game against the Green Bay Packers will be relieved to hear that they have signed a quarterback who can actually complete a forward pass.  Multiple sources are confirming that the Vikings have signed Matt Cassel, who was released by the by Kansas City Chiefs.

There are conflicting reports on whether Cassel was signed strictly as a backup to Christian Ponder or if he will be given a chance to compete for the starting job.  Based on what Viking coaches have said, Ponder will be tagged the starter going in.

However, things could get very interesting if Ponder struggles or misses time due to injury and Cassel rebounds from a couple rough seasons and plays well for the Vikings.
