"Read to the Final Four is a year-long, statewide reading initiative to promote and inspire reading for kids throughout Minnesota. It includes free access to a library of more than 5,800 high-quality books and a bracket-style reading competition for all Minnesota students who are in third grade - a critical year for reading development and overall education. "

Congratulations to the third-grade classes at Lincoln Piedmont Elementary and Lowell Elementary, who have both qualified for the first round - the "Round of 68". Piedmont and Lowell were among 68 of 275 participating schools across Minnesota that qualified based on their respective number of minutes read to date.

Each week a new bracket will be announced with the final four schools attending Fan Fest at the Final Four in Minneapolis in April, where the ultimate reading champion will be announced. So far 14,665 total students have participated throughout Minnesota. Good luck to our two local schools, what a great way to participate in this exciting event coming to the Twin Cities this April.

Although the 68-school bracketed competition is exclusive to third graders, this Read to the Final Four statewide goal provides all non-third graders in elementary schools across the state of Minnesota an opportunity to join the Final Four fun as well. Every minute read will count towards our statewide goal and the top individual readers will have the chance to win prizes!
