The Minnesota DNR has just confirmed that Jack Burke did in fact catch the current State Record for Sturgeon on Rainy River. Jack and a friend were participating in an early season catch and release sturgeon fishing trip when he hooked the 73 inch monster. It measured 30 inches around it's belly and is estimated to be about 105 pounds.

The previous record sturgeon was 70 inches long, and that was just last year on the same body of water Rainy River.
