Part of Wade Stadium, Home of the Duluth Huskies, Collapses

A historic ballpark in Duluth has been in need of repair for a long time.  Wednesday, time and weather finally caught up to Wade Stadium as part of the Duluth Huskies home field collapsed.

The Northland's News Center reported that a six to eight foot portion of the brick wall on the northwest side of the stadium came tumbling down Wednesday.

Officials say the stadium, built in the early 40s, has had its share of issues and is in major need of repair.

One of the biggest problems has been a bow in the wall, which is the portion that finally gave way Wednesday.

Hopefully this will open eyes across the state as to the condition of Wade Stadium and funding can be secured though the government to get renovations underway.

In the meantime, the damaged wall will be fixed and the Huskies expect the stadium to be ready for the 2013 season.
