Beach access at the 12th Street parking lot at Park Point is about to get a big makeover. Duluth Parks and Recreation is making improvements to the area this week. You will want to adjust your plans accordingly.

The construction began Monday, May 14th and will continue through the 18th. The parking lot will be closed for the entirety of the week.

It will all be worth it in the end though as the improvements include a new boardwalk, observation deck and fencing along the edge of the parking lot, according to a press release from the City Of Duluth.

As of now, the parking lot is set to reopen by 4 p.m. this Friday. If the work is into completed on schedule, crews will finish next week without any extended closures.

The area is found along Lake Superior and is the perfect place to explore this time of year with hiking trails, swimming and bird watching.
