We are definitely going to have another solid few weeks of ice fishing.   I'd even venture to guess with current ice conditions we could be fishing into April.  ( As always, be careful... ice can break up fast once it warms up.)  However, if you're planning on fishing past this Friday in Minnesota, you're going to need to renew your license.

Minnesota licenses expire on February 28th.   You can always renew online at the very handy MN DNR website. But, keep in mind the Walleye season is already closed for all inland waters.  You still could get one last weekend catching walleyes on the St. Louis River, as it is a border water between Wisconsin and MN, and the end of walleye / sauger season is March 2nd, 2014.

For those with Wisconsin Licenses, the expiration date this year is March 31st.  According to the WI DNR website, Walleye season is closed March 1st on the St. Louis River, and open until March 2nd on Inland waters.   Yeah, it's a little confusing when you fish the river for those sometimes head scratching regulations.

Either way, be safe, have fun, and keep fishing!
