Are you happy? If you are reading this, chances are so!

According to a recent study from WalletHub, Minnesota is the third happiest state in the country. That is pretty darn impressive.

Wisconsin isn't far behind either, coming in 11th! That is also impressive.

The happiest state in the entire country? Hawaii. Utah was a close second. North Dakota and California round out the top five - along with Minnesota of course.

Things don't seem to be going so well for Louisiana, Arkansas and West Virginia. They make up some of the unhappiest states. Yikes.

So how did WalletHub get to these findings? They looked at about 30 different factors including share of adult depression, sports participation rate and hours worked.

Minnesota has one of the highest sports participation and volunteer rates. The Land of 10,000 Lakes also has one of the lowest divorce rates and is named one of the safest states in the country, too.

Wisconsin also has a high volunteer rate but didn't make the top 5 (or the bottom 5) for any other factors mentioned.

Maybe having a reputation for being nice has something to do with it? Whatever the reasons may be, I am glad I live and work in one of the happiest states there is!
