It finally happened and I can't say I'm surprised. We saw our first accumulating snowfall in Duluth and surrounding areas.

It all happened Wednesday, as we saw heavy rain and flooding in areas like Canal Park. Winds also caused quite a bit of damage across the Northland as well.

As temperatures dropped, the rain transitioned to snow. The next thing you know, I'm waking up to a nice blanket of snow on my porch and my car. Sigh.

It wasn't a ton of snow - it will definitely get a lot worse. It was a nice introduction into what we will likely be seeing for the rest of the year.

So just how much snow did we get? WDIO Storm Team Meteorologist Taylor Dayton shared a snowfall totals map on his Facebook page Thursday afternoon:

There ya have it!

Like I said, it's not a ton of snow but that doesn't make it any less jarring when it happens.

Between the wind, rain and snow, it was a busy day across the Northland Wednesday. Hopefully things calm down a bit for the weekend.
