I've always preferred the taste of charcoal grilling preferred to gas grilling.  I think most people agree that it just tastes better.   But what about hickory charcoal?  Unfortunately at this point in my life, our gas grill was just quicker to use when we're trying to feed the kids.  That recently broke on us, so I had to pull out the Weber and go back to charcoal for a night.  After trying this "new to me" kind of charcoal, I may not replace the gas grill.

It's fantastic!  I've usually been a match lite guy, but this was on sale at Menards and I thought I'd give it a try.  It has a great smokey hickory flavor, just like it promised.  I know there's purists out there that add the soaked wood chips on top of charcoal (or even gas), but this was so simple.  We had brats and burgers last night, and they were fantastic.

I can't wait to try a nice thick ribeye steak, pork chops, or chicken on it!
