Here’s What Could Be Replacing Duluth’s Chateau Motel Building

Remember the old Chateau Motel? It's about to be vacant no more.

According to website The Development Tracker Duluth, a Sherwin-Williams store will soon occupy the space. Sherwin-Williams is a paint and coating manufacturing company.

The exact location will be the corner of London Road and 18th Avenue East at 1801 London Road. The new Duluth store will be the first in town. There are already two other locations across the Twin Ports.

Those can be found at the following addresses:

• 4767 Miller Trunk Road in Hermantown
• 2001 Tower Avenue in Superior

Sherwin-Williams will be the first business to occupy the old Chateau Motel in nearly a decade. It has remained vacant since 2011.

The site reports the new Sherwin-Williams store will be about 4,000 square feet. It could be open as early as this fall.

This is one of many new businesses that are set to open in the area. A new Caribou Coffee location is expected in Duluth any day now.

A shiny new Starbucks location and a Jersey Mike's sub shop recently opened in Duluth as well.
