It may not feel much like Spring but it will eventually. 'The Continental Ski & Bike' Bike Swap will return for its 12th year this weekend. There may be snow melting on the ground but that has to go away sometime, right?

The event is a great place to give back and find a bike that will be perfect for the day the sunshine actually shines down upon us.

Here's how it works: you can sell or donate a bike and find a new one if you please. The event supports Head Of The Lakes United Way and Animal Allies with 25% of proceeds going to the organizations.

If you want to sell your bike, you can bring it into the shop during any of the following times:

  • Thursday the 19th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday the 20th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday the 21st from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Of course, all bikes must be in reasonable working shape. All bikes that aren't sold by 5 p.m. the first day of the swap will be discounted.

If you choose to donate a bike, all of the money will benefit United Way and Animal Allies. You can drop those off without question through the 21st.

If you want to buy a bike, you can stop by the event and someone will help you find one that fits your needs.

The hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you want to volunteer, you can contact anne@continentalski.com.

As if you need any more incentive to hit up the big event, there's more! 1st Street will be closed from 13th to 14th Avenue so you can test out bikes without worrying about traffic. There will also be vendors, attractions, food and drinks.

You can get more details here. Continental Ski & Bike is located at 1305 East 1st Street in Duluth.
