Garth Brooks took some time during his Monday night (March 19) Inside Studio G Facebook Live event to send a message of support and encouragement to the organizers of and participants in the upcoming anti-gun violence March for Our Lives. The country star both directly addressed march organizer Emma Gonzalez and offered some advice to all of those involved.

Near the end of his weekly live chat, Brooks turned his focus to Saturday's (March 24) March for Our Lives, a series of rallies in Washington, DC, and elsewhere, focused on gun control legislation. The event, which Brooks calls "beautiful" and "a great thought," is being organized by, among others, Gonzalez, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., where 17 students were shot and killed on Feb. 14.

"You're the future. Our children are our future ... So this is your world. Take it. Shape it. Mold it." Brooks said (readers can fast-forward to 24:30 in the video above to see his remarks). "Be patient. Be loving ... Be tolerant ... Do not let hate win ... You're walking for your children that you haven't had yet ... Your generation is the generation for the school shootings. Let's make sure the next generation is not."

During Inside Studio G, Brooks also shared a bit of a song that he co-wrote with Tony Arata, but never recorded; its narrator is a father, who is telling his children that our choices shape our futures. Brooks didn't give the song's name, but he explained that the line "To matter then, it must matter now" makes him think of the March for Our Lives participants.

"Everybody who will be marching: Love. Do not let hate win. Love," Brooks said as he concluded his Facebook Live event. "Be a part of it."
