Former University of Minnesota Duluth Women's Hockey coach Shannon Miller has stepped down from her head coaching role with the Calgary Inferno, a Canadian Women's Hockey League team.

The decision was made 12 games into the Inferno's 28-game season, during which Miller led the team ton 10 wins, 1 loss, and a shootout loss. The team released a statement via their website and social media, thanking Miller for her contributions to the program during her time with the team, and wishing her the best in her future endeavors. In the same statement, the team said the assistant coaches will remain with the team. The reason for her departure from the team mid-season is undisclosed.

Miller took the job as coach of the Inferno in June of 2018, following her departure from UMD. Miller had served as the first head coach of the women's hockey program, taking the job in 1998, and leading the Bulldogs to multiple NCAA tournament appearances and NCAA Championships. She and the university parted ways in a dispute that included a lawsuit she and two other UMD coaches filed against the university alleging discrimination and a hostile work environment.
