A lot of new names on the leaderboard for the Fitgers 5k race. Scott Behling, last year's race winner came in second behind Nate Routhier. Ellen Smith was the first woman.

The weather was almost as good as it can get. Hard to believe it was blizzard conditions a week ago, with hardly a trace of the snow on the race course. This course was a little different and the start was a wave start, with three waves consisting of people matched up with their finishing times.

The National Anthem was performed by a young Belle Modeen. Then race director Greg dismissed everyone with the horn to run the course on a bright sunny day.

According to Mtec, 1858 people finished 62 men and 1196 women. The average finish time was 32:41 for the race.  The next race in the series, of course, is The William A. Irvin 5k, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and Grandma's Marathon on June 16th. All races benefit the Young Athletes Foundation, encouraging kids to exercise and keep in shape.
