Some say the Independent Television Festival is sort of like the Sundance Film Festival for TV and could make Duluth the TV capital.

Riki McManus, director of the Upper Minnesota Film Office posted the article from the Star Tribune as a victory for the local economy as well as a possibility of making Duluth, and Minnesota the place to go for all things TV.

The ITVFest used to be in Los Angeles, but today the main office in Vermont is announcing that they are moving from the city of angles to the city by the lake. According to the Star Tribune, one of the reasons was Duluth's historic arts and theaters and the comeback the city has made as well as the beauty of the lake and the city itself. They wanted something smaller than Los Angeles. With the size of the festival, it is being estimated that it will bring $1.5 million to the economy.

The festival is known as one of the best ways to network, up-and-coming talent like “Drunk History” co-creator Jeremy Konner and “New Girl” actor Jake Johnson have said they wouldn't be where they are without the festival.

The next festival will be October 9-13 in Duluth, MN
