Luckily, we haven't received a whole lot of snow, so it hasn't been an issue.  I doubt that we'll get lucky enough NOT to have a major snowfall soon and that's why this info is valuable to your and your family.  It will require help from you and your neighbors, but it's all in the name of safety.

The Duluth Fire Department and ComfortSystems would like residents in Duluth and all communities to help keep fire hydrants shoveled and clear of snow.  If you live near a fire hydrant you should make the conscious decision to keep it clear of snow and ice. This decision is one that could ultimately mean your home and family are protected.

Please "ADOPT" a fire hydrant near your home for the winter.  If you have already adopted a hydrant in your neighborhood, thank you for your efforts.  This will ensure if you or you neighbors need hydrant service, the Duluth Fire Department will have easy speedy access to it.  Again, this is a great idea for all communities to "adopt".

Another important safety topic the Duluth Fire Department's press release suggested was in regards to your furnace. Please make sure your fuel regulator is shielded from falling ice and the air intake and exhaust are clear of snow. While you're at it test your batteries and the operation of your Carbon Monoxide detector.

If you reside in Duluth and have questions, you can call Comfort Systems at 218.730.4050.
