Summer is here and the ultimate challenge for parents is to keep kids busy and active.  City of Duluth Parks & Recreation has plenty of options and they're all free to enjoy.

The following activities are available for kids and people of all ages all summer long:

1. Play Gym
The free weekly Play Gym program offers sessions of interactive play and social time for kids and their care-givers on Mondays from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Duluth Heights Community Center, located at 33 Mulberry Street.  This program is offered year round.

Also at the Duluth Heights Community Center, inter-generational Creative Move & Groove sessions are offered for both families and seniors on Mondays from 1:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. through August 15th.

2. Bayfront Family Center -
Head down to Bayfront Festival Park Monday through Thursday between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to enjoy a wide variety of fun summertime activities.  They even have equipment available to use on a first come, first serve basis.  Keep in mind that the center may be closed for special Bayfront Festival Park events.

3. Essentia Health Duluth Heritage Center

Don't let warmer summer temps fool you, there's still ice skating available every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. through August 22.  Enjoy free open skating with limited skates available to borrow.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Essentia Health Duluth Heritage Center is located at 120 S. 30th Avenue.
