After a tragic night that left a Duluth Police officer wounded and a K9 officer dead, Duluth Mayor Emily Larson announced that Enger Tower will be lit blue for a few days days to pay tribute.

On January 14, Mayor Larson posted the following message on her Facebook page:

For the next few days we will be lighting Enger Tower blue to thank our officers who responded to a dangerous call last night, to show our support for Officer Haller who is safe and home, to thank the DPD community for supporting one another, for this community who is doing the same.

K9 Partners work incredibly hard to protect and serve this community. Haas was a trusted companion to Officer Haller.

Thank you to everyone who is reaching out. It has been a very difficult night and morning for people who work with and in our Police Department and their families.

This incident is a sad reminder of the daily challenges the men, women, and K9 officers of the Duluth Police face on a daily basis in the Northland.
