Everyone has their favorite piece in a Gardetto bag, mine is the pretzels.  Almost every time I make my Placebo Gardetto Pretzels, I'm asked for the recipe.  It makes ALOT so I'm able to share, as was the case over Memorial Weekend, then, I brought some to work for a meeting.  Since I'm tired of writing the recipe down I decided to blog it and you'll all have it.  It's easy and guaranteed to be a hit.

Here's the history of the recipe, since I should NOT take credit for it whatsoever.  We were enjoying beverages in the Whistling Bird Restaurant in Gilbert, MN when Tony and his wife owned it.  They served these amazingly delicious pretzels in the bar and when I asked where they purchased them, the bartender said, "we make em".  So, I casually asked if I could have the recipe, never thinking they'd actually share it with me, but they did and now you can make them too!  They didn't have a name for them, so I named them:

Placebo Gardetto Pretzels

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pretzels (heart-shaped, criss-cross version)
  • 1 pkg of dry Hidden Valley dry ranch dressing
  • 1 T. dillweed
  • 1 1/4 C. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 T. garlic powder

DIRECTIONS:

Mix all ingredients in a large kettle. Keep stirring every few hours over the next two days until all the oil has been absorbed.  (be sure to get down to the bottom where the seasoning tends to settle).  ENJOY!

Try it and let me know what you think.  Instead of having a stash of recipe cards and a pen with you, just direct all your friends to my blog for the recipe, I'm a sharer :)
