Spring is here, which means outdoor construction and projects will be underway across the Northland.  Beginning this week, downtown Duluth will have projects and closures you should be aware of.

The Greater Downtown Council has announced the following two projects:

  • April 3 - May 6 - 4th Ave West from the alley below West First Street down to Superior Street will be closed to motor vehicles due to the placement of a crane related to the Maurices Headquarters construction. After May 6, the crane will be moved to 5th Ave West, thereby prohibiting northbound traffic on 5th Ave West until May 27.
  • Starting Monday, April 6, 2015 - Michigan Street will be closed just east of 2nd Avenue West for two days. A large crane will be in place updating building signage. The sidewalk on the south side of Michigan Street will remain open.

Motorists will be able to access the US Bank parking ramp on Michigan Street using First Ave West. During the project period, Michigan Street between the ramp and First Ave West will be temporarily delineated as a two way street to allow access to parking.

I think we all expect detours and construction to ramp up this time of  year, and hopefully being prepared for them makes them more tolerable.
