Now that the holidays are over, the kids are back in school and it's back to reality for everyone else.  When everyone needs to get outside and burn off some energy, check out the free activities at the  Bayfront Family Center.

The City Of Duluth Parks and Recreation department has officially begun their Bayfront Family Center Outdoor Skating and Winter Playground programming.  The program and ice rink are free to the public and will be open 7 days a week for casual skaters and others who want to enjoy winter activities.

Ice skates, sleds, snowshoes and snow sculpting tools are available for loan on site.

On Friday nights, your family can enjoy an outdoor fire, free hot chocolate and marshmallows.  There's also an outdoor fireplace to warm you up every night.

The outdoor fun takes place during the following hours:

  • Monday—Friday from 4-8 pm
  • Saturdays from 1-8 pm
  • Sundays from 1-5 pm

There are extended hours planned during Mid-winter Break, February 19-23, from 1-8pm.

Also, the activities take place weather permitting.  For example, if the wind chill dips to  – 20°, the rink will close until conditions improve.

You can check the DuluthParksMN Facebook page for weather related updates.
