Looking for a way your family can give back to the community?  My daughter Kylee and I use to ring Salvation Army red kettle bells.  Then as she got older we moved to wrapping gifts, soon we were volunteering our time at several events that helped the Second Harvest Food Bank.  It was a great learning experience as the seed to continue volunteering was planted so many years ago.  If you don't know where to start, I can help!

First your family needs to decide to make the commitment to donate time, time to work together to a cause.  Secondly, you have to find an organization or volunteer position that fits the ages and desires of what you want to do.

This has been made easier for you by attending the Family Volunteer Day at the Downtown Public Library.  There's family friendly activities and many connections to local organizations that will tell you how you can volunteer right here in our community!  Projects include Hands-Only CPR taught by the Duluth Fire Department, screening books for the Big Red Bookshelf, and creating holiday cards and place mats for local senior centers and food shelves. Featured organizations include Great Lakes Aquarium, Salvation Army, Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, CASDA, and the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation.

This year, Duluth will be celebrating Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Green Room at the downtown Duluth Public Library, located at 520 West Superior Street.
