4th of July is just about a week away and it's time to start planning your festivities.

Whether you want to head out on the town and live it up or check out fireworks somewhere new, there really is something for everyone looking to celebrate in the area!

From Cloquet to Eveleth to Superior to Duluth, there are fun activities aplenty! Parades will take the streets with fun and games from morning to night and fireworks to cap off the big day.

The only downside to the 4th this year is the fact that it falls smack dab in the middle of the week! It's a bummer but you can still have fun and make the most of it.

I did a little research to find out the best spots to spend the holiday. Here are 5 fun events I found in the area:

  • 1

    Fourth Fest In Duluth

Head over to Bayfront Festival Park for live music, food and craft vendors plus one of the largest firework displays in the area. There will also be a carnival next door in the DECC parking lot. The best part? It is completely free! For more details, click here.

    July Fourth In Cloquet

So many activities, so little time. Cloquet is going all out this year. Activities begin with a 5k bright and early, followed by a veterans celebration parade, a car show, a pool party, an open house at the local fire station and an accordion concert. There will also be helicopter rides, a wiffle ball competition and of course, fireworks! Check out a full list of events here.

Parade & Pancakes In Moose Lake

Who doesn't want to start their day with a pancake breakfast? That will be the kick-off, followed by a parade commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the Fires of 1918. A sloppy joe lunch will be followed by a celebration in the park. It will be complete with games, food, swimming AND live music with fireworks capping off the night. There will also be a flea and farmer's market nearby if you want to break away for a bit. For event times, visit their website here.

  • 4

    "Thunder Over Eveleth" Celebration

If you want to get a head start on fireworks, this may be the place to go as they will be fired on the 3rd instead! A parade will kick things off on the actual holiday with games and a race. For more information, visit the event's page here.
